"IIT Madras" BSc Data Science Program: Admission open to Class XI and XII students
Students in Class XI and XII can now apply for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras’ BSc in Programming and Data Science program. Students, working professionals, and those on sabbatical are all encouraged to apply.
The Institute is accepting applications for the May 2022 Term of this groundbreaking program, which was started in 2020 as a first-of-its-kind endeavor. IIT Madras currently allows students as early as Class XI to apply for the qualifier procedure, easing the load on students by allowing them to obtain admission to IIT Madras while still in school. Students who complete Class XI by May 2022 or are presently enrolled in Class XII can apply for the May 2022 Term qualifying procedure and, if accepted, can begin coursework after completing Class XII.
Number of seats
There is no limit to the number of seats available, so anyone who qualifies can apply. Learners who pass the JEE Advanced 2021 test will be able to enroll in this BSc program in May 2022.
The deadline to apply for this Data Science Program’s May Term is April 20, 2022.
So far, more than 60,000 applications have been received for the BSc qualifying process, and more than 12,500 students from India and abroad are currently enrolled in the BSc program. One of the program’s highlights is the diversity of the learners in terms of student age (18-65 years), role (students from various educational backgrounds – commerce, arts, science, engineering, management, medicine, and law, among others, working professionals from various industry sectors), and learners hailing from more than 25 countries.
For qualifying students, scholarships are offered, making this program accessible to all. The program is designed with the learner’s convenience in mind, with weekly content posted on a platform for anytime access and all examinations taking place in person at specified centers in over 130 cities across India, ensuring the learning assessment’s authenticity. Fee waivers of up to 75% are available at IIT Madras based on annual family income, with additional scholarships available through CSR partners.
Four weeks of training, including video lectures, weekly assignments, a discussion forum, and live interactions with professors and course instructors, are included in the application process. Applicants must take the qualifying test in person, which is based only on the subject covered over the previous four weeks, and if they pass with a score higher than the minimal cut-off, they will be admitted to the foundation level of the BSc in Programming and Data Science.
