While some of you, like Bill Gates and Abdul Kalam sir, may be readers, the majority of people nowadays feel that playing games, talking on WhatsApp, or watching television is preferable to sitting with a book in their hands. While speaking and playing games is an easy task, reading allows you to broaden your horizons and learn more about life. No one can ever give you the wisdom that books provide.
Readers are never bored or afraid of being alone since they always have a companion, namely books, to keep them occupied in their own world. Another objection some of you may have is that at college, we don't have enough time to read.
It is a lovely book written by Paulo Coelho, a well-known author. The protagonist Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd kid, is the protagonist of Alchemist, a novel that somehow connects with everyone of us. It explains basic human needs; we all have a love for something that some of us follow, while others conceal it owing to society's and the world's fear. Listening to our hearts, identifying chances, learning to interpret the omens scattered along life's road, and most importantly, following our aspirations are all taught in this book.
We all seek counsel, words of wisdom, and ideas from our elders. This work, too, is based on similar premises. Professor Randy Pausch of Carnegie Mellon University is stricken with pancreatic cancer at the age of 47, and this is his final lecture, urging college students and readers to live each day with meaning and joy. You never want the book to finish since it is both uplifting and powerful. Pausch recounts his life experiences, which include huge dreams, hard effort, patience, sacrifice, self-confidence, modesty, courage, a positive approach, and overcoming adversity.
A book dedicated to the country's young and college students, Ignited Minds is a gift from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to us before we left. The book is written in the style of an essay and is a must-read for India's young. The book opens with an uplifting message to India's young, encouraging them to dream big and trust in their ability to achieve their goals. Dr. Kalam doubts Indians' willingness to settle down in his book. He speaks to Indian young people who have ceased dreaming and are simply following the rat race just doing what others around them are doing, with minimal accomplishment and without maximizing their full potential –resources, talent, and abilities.
