Difference Between NEET and JIPMER Exams
In this blog, we will discuss the difference between the two exams which are NEET and JIPMER.
Each must take the All India Level Entrance Exam to pursue a career in MBBS. Following the Supreme Court's ruling, the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) was successfully held last year for admission to MBBS programs at various medical universities across the nation. Every university is obligated to fill its MBBS slots through the NEET. Nevertheless, some institutions, like the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), which was established by a law of the parliament, are excluded from filling their seats through the NEET exam. To fill the MBBS seats, they conduct their admission exam.
The difference between NEET and JIPMER MBBS:
-
Being a computer-based exam, the JIPMER exam is administered online. Here, the candidates must practice the online dummy tests to familiarise themselves with the online test format. In contrast, the NEET exam requires candidates to complete an OMR sheet on paper.
-
The JIPMER exam has 200 questions, which must be answered in 2 hours and 30 minutes, whereas the NEET exam has 180 questions, which must be completed in 3 hours. It is quite clear that effective time management is necessary to pass the JIPMER exam.
-
Similar to the NEET test, the JIPMER question paper will be in English, Hindi, and 8 additional regional languages, including Assamese, Gujarati, Tamil, Oriya, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Kannada.
-
In the JIPMER exam, candidates receive 4 marks for each correctly answered question; incorrect answers do not receive any points deducted. In contrast, the NEET Exam will award 4 marks for each correct response while deducting 1 point for each incorrect response.
-
The JIPMER exam will consist of 60 questions in each of the following categories: biology, chemistry, physics, logical and quantitative ability, and English comprehension (10). While Biology (90), Chemistry (45), and Physics will each have a certain number of questions on the NEET test (45). Candidates who have a strong command of English would undoubtedly have an advantage in the JIPMER and NEET exams, therefore biology needs to be given full consideration.
