CAT is just three months away now and date of exam is Nov24, 2019. CAT is digitally based test, conducts annually in a year.CAT is the mandatory exam for taking participation in admission process of IIMs. Common Admission Test or CAT scores are accepted by many other top Non-IIMs business schools such as IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi and many more. Scoring good percentile is necessary for taking admission into top business school.CAT is being conducted once in a year in two sessions – Morning and Evening. Every year any of the IIMs conduct CAT and this year it will be conducted by IIM Kozhikode. Score of this 3 hours test will let you ahead in journey of making selection in IIMs.

CAT 2019 Exam Pattern – Highlights

Duration of ExamCAT will be test of 3 hours duration and conduct on single day in two sessions – Morning and Evening Shift

Type of Questions- There can be two type of question –MCQs and Non MCQs.

Section Segment – There will be three section in the exam – Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretations & Logical Reasoning (DI&LR) and Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

Negative Marking Scheme – There will be negative marking scheme of ¼ marks for wrong answer.

Each section will be 60 minutes specifically. CAT needs efficient proper time management calibre to maintain accuracy. Candidates need to understand the basic point that they have to qualify cut off for each section along with overall percentile to make sure their place in IIMs for further process.

CAT SYLLABUS 2019 - Details

CAT is one of the most important exam for management aspirants to take admission into top business school and 20 IIMs. Many colleges have their own specific exam for their admission process .CAT is accepted by more than 2000 colleges in India for taking admission into management programme. But for IIMs it’s mandatory to give Common Admission Test or CAT.

Before giving any exam it’s important to know the syllabus so that you can analyse it properly to score well in exam and same goes with your CAT Exam.

CAT is conducted by any of the IIMs every year and this year IIM Kozhikode will be conducting exam .Although IIM doesn’t release any constant syllabus notification for exam but we can help you to know the detailed syllabus on the basis of past pattern of CAT Exam.

On the basis of last year’s pattern of the CAT Exam, CAT Syllabus has been classified into three sections –

  1. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension with 34 Questions
  2. Data Interpretations & Logical Reasoning with 32 Questions
  3. Quantitative Aptitude with 34 Questions

CAT is just 3 month away. Reading Comprehension Passage connected with Business & Economic environment like Changing environment business, Global factor changes, Government policy , Impact of budget , Impact of demonetisation , impact of Jammu & Kashmir issue, GDP Growth Rate .

Passages concerned with English literature, influencer, thinker, activist , great writers, philosophers. Speeches concerned with Great writers Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Stephen King , Ravindranath Tagore.

RC Passage associated with editorial articles also finds place in this section.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2019 - Detailed

CAT ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA 2019

Exam has been scheduled on 24 November 2019.And the registration process is ongoing. Before applying for CAT 2019, it’s better to know the detailed eligibility criteria because once you applied for CAT Exam and you find not able to fulfil all the eligibility criteria then your registration fees is not refundable.

Below are detailed Eligibility Criteria –

  1. There is no age bar.
  2. Candidates must have the Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50% of marks for  Non reserved Category.
  3. The minimum percentage of marks in case of SC (Scheduled Caste), ST(Scheduled Tribes) and Person with Disabilities (PwD) is 45%.
  4. The degree must be awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as an University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  5. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
  6. If the final year student get selected , he  will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate
  7. Candidates applying for CAT 2019 should fulfill any one of the following conditions: 
    • Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks (50% for Non - Reserved Category ad 45% for Reserved Category )
    • Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage (50% for Non - Reserved Category ad 45% for Reserved Category ).
    • Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage (50% for Non - Reserved Category ad 45% for Reserved Category )The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution.
  8.  In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/Institution.
  9. If any University/Institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.
