Skills Academy, launches a major initiative to offer 100,000 green internships
to students from AICTE-affiliated institutions by 2030. The Green Internship
Program, supported by the Government of Telangana and Salesforce, will equip
students with vital sustainability skills, helping India align with global
environmental goals.
The All India
Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and 1M1B Green Skills Academy have announced a groundbreaking
Green Internship Program for
students enrolled in AICTE-affiliated
colleges and universities. By the year 2030, the initiative aims to provide
100,000 green internships, with 10,000 internships set to be offered in the
first year alone.
Launched at AICTE's
New Delhi headquarters, the program witnessed the presence of key
dignitaries, including AICTE Chairman Prof. T. G. Sitharam, NETF Chairman Anil
Sahasrabuddhe, and leaders from Salesforce and 1M1B. The initiative emphasizes
developing climate talent through partnerships with the Government of Telangana
and Salesforce, which includes the establishment of India's first physical Green
Skills Centre in Hyderabad.
The
1M1B Green Skills Academy, announced at the United Nations in 2023, aims to
integrate sustainability and eco-conscious practices into educational
institutions, ensuring that India's future workforce is prepared for the global
push towards environmental sustainability.
"The Green Internship Program is crucial in
fostering environmental awareness and providing students with hands-on
experience in sustainability practices," stated Prof. T. G. Sitharam,
Chairman of AICTE.
This initiative marks a significant step in aligning
Indian educational institutions with the country’s national environmental
goals, making them key contributors to global sustainability efforts.
