🏫 About the University: A New Chapter for
Meghalaya
Established in 2011 through a legislative act by the Meghalaya
state government, CWSSU has now officially begun academic operations from
its 90-acre permanent campus in Tura, constructed with a budget of ₹16.96 crore
under Special Plan Assistance. The campus houses academic blocks, hostels, and
administrative offices.
In December 2024, the University Grants Commission
(UGC) formally granted the university degree-awarding powers under Section
2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university has affiliated 11 colleges across
Meghalaya, offering a unified platform for higher education.
❌ No CUET Required
for Admission
One of CWSSU’s most student-friendly features is that CUET
is not mandatory for admission into its PG programmes. This sets it
apart from universities like NEHU, which require CUET compliance under
the NEP 2020 framework. The admission process is simplified, making the
university more accessible to students across Meghalaya.
