Explore innovations in critical minerals at IIT Hyderabad’s symposium, Jan 3-4, 2025, hosted by the Australia-India Research Hub.
A two-day Critical Minerals Symposium and Workshop will be held on January 3rd and January 4th, 2025, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad. The event is organized by the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH).
It will bring together experts from India and Australia to talk about critical mineral research, establish priorities, and develop a road map for future collaboration.
Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub
An MoU between India’s Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Australia’s Minister for Education, Jason Clare MP, formalized an IIT Hyderabad-Monash University AICMRH partnership. This initiative deals with the global challenges in critical minerals research and sustainable mining practices.
The ministry agreed to an initial $1.1 million funding under the SPARC Scheme, a $5 million plan designed to fund the Hub's work.
Critical Minerals Research Hub Objectives
The AICMRH aims to:
Support for strengthening India and Australia’s capabilities in exploration and extraction and recycling of critical minerals.
Promote collaboration between academia, research institutes, and industries.
Partner with countries like Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the UK, and the USA.
Sustainable mining practice promotion and supply chain process optimization.
Share the intellectual property (IP) libraries to take in resources and promote innovation.
The symposium has been open to interested participants from whom we can receive feedback. This India and Australia collaboration will provide a huge boost to worldwide critical minerals research.
