IIT ISM Dhanbad’s mining hydraulics program aims to enhance technical skills for professionals in mining machinery industries.
The IIT Indian School of Mines ISM Dhanbad has started a one-week capacity-building program on hydraulics used in mining machines. Sponsored by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, this initiative focuses on the advancement and improvement of competencies of professionals in the mining and construction machinery industries.
Enhancing Collaboration between Industry and Academia
The program is aimed at introducing gaps between academia and industry and is conducted within the operational, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems in mining machinery.
As a hands-on experience, the program can provide its participants with concrete ideas regarding hydraulic systems and their application to various challenges within a number of industries.
Target market and market leaders
The capacity-building program involves 35 executives from top firms in the mining and construction industries. Some participants are from well-known organizations: Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), Tata Steel Limited, and Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE). This diverse group presents an ideal environment to facilitate the flow of knowledge between industry players, professionals, and practitioners.
Event Inauguration
It was also the honour of the event to host Prof. Prem Vrat, Chairman of the Board of Governors; Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director; and Prof. Somnath Chattopadhyay, Head of Mechanical Engineering. Their appearance signified the importance of the program in the promotion of technology in the growth of the industry.
