offering financial aid and promoting timely thesis completion and quality
research.

Kanpur has introduced a new fellowship program aimed at supporting
outstanding PhD students. The Fellowship
for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE) was officially announced on
October 16, offering financial backing and recognition to PhD scholars who exhibit exceptional academic and research
achievements.
This initiative is designed to promote timely thesis
completion and high-quality research output. Full-time PhD students enrolled at IIT
Kanpur are eligible to apply if they submit their thesis within five years
of starting the program. Additionally, students who submit within five years
and six months will also be considered, though the fellowship duration will be
adjusted.
To qualify, applicants must have at least one
research paper, as the first author, published or accepted in a reputed journal
or conference proceedings. The fellowship is applicable to students from the
Y18 batch onwards.
FARE
offers
financial support for up to 12 months, providing a stipend equivalent to the
Institute's post-doctoral fellows, along with additional research grants.
Students will continue to work under their current thesis supervisor, with
opportunities for collaboration with other faculty members during the
fellowship.
