IIT Roorkee Scholarships for UG and PG Students
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT
Roorkee) offers bachelor's degree courses in 10 disciplines of engineering and
architecture and master's degree courses in 55 disciplines of engineering,
applied science, architecture, and planning. IIT Roorkee provides various
scholarships annually to deserving students. These scholarships may include
college fee concessions or direct benefit transfers to students' bank accounts.
Some of the notable scholarships include Merit Cum Means, James Thomason, INSPIRE
SHE, Dr. S.K. Goel and Kusum Goel Scholarship, and the Sharman Foundation
Scholarship.
Scholarships and Eligibility
1.
Merit
Cum Means Scholarship (MCM)
Eligibility:
·
For UG students: Minimum Rs 1,000 per
month for 10 months per academic year plus a refund of the remaining tuition
fee.
·
For M.Sc. students: Minimum Rs 1,000 per
month for 10 months per academic year.
·
Available for the normal duration of the
program; for dual degree programs, only up to the 4th year.
·
Awarded to up to 25% of the actual
strength of the class.
·
Applicant must belong to General,
General (EWS), or OBC categories.
·
For BTech, BArch, Integrated Dual Degree
(IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science
(IMS), and BS-MS programs through JEE Advanced or MSc programs through JAM.
·
Parents' gross income should not exceed
Rs 5 lakh.
·
CGPA and YGPA should be 7.00 or above
(not applicable for fresh students).
·
All registered courses should be cleared
(not applicable for fresh students).
·
The student should not have been penalized
for unfair means or indiscipline.
James Thomason Scholarship (JT)
Eligibility:
·
For students of B.Tech., B.Arch., IDD,
IMT, IMS, and BS-MS programs admitted through JEE Advanced.
·
Applicant should have an All India Rank
(AIR) in recent JEE Advanced up to 250.
INSPIRE SHE Scholarship
Eligibility:
·
For UG studies continuing up to PG
studies, based on Class 12th examination results (top 1%) of respective boards
or eligible rank in JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced), NEET (AIPMT), KVPY.
·
For students of Integrated M.Sc.
programs (II to V year) from the Departments of Mathematics, Chemistry, and
Physics.
·
Parents' gross income should not exceed
Rs 5 lakh.
·
Applicant should have availed of INSPIRE
SHE in the previous years.
·
First-year students of BS-MS and
M.Sc./Int.M.Sc. programs from Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments.
Dr. S.K. Goel and Mrs. Kusum Goel Scholarship
Eligibility:
·
Four financially constrained UG students
entering the institute.
·
Amount: Rs 2 lakh per year for the
normal duration of their program (four years).
·
Selected candidates should maintain a
minimum CGPA of 7.5 at the end of each academic year.
·
General and OBC category students of
B.Tech. I year with annual family income between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students Pursuing Engineering
Education
Eligibility:
·
Supports two disadvantaged UG students.
·
Amount: USD 1000 per year for the normal
duration of their program (four years).
·
Maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 at the
end of each academic year.
·
At least one scholarship will be given
to a female student if she meets the criteria.
·
General and OBC category students of
B.Tech. I year with a 2/3 Tuition Fee Waiver but not availing any other similar
scholarship.
IIT Roorkee also offers foundation scholarships,
including the Sharman Foundation Scholarship.
