IT Kanpur Develops Stealth-Enhancing Metamaterial System

IIT Kanpur introduces cutting-edge Metamaterial Cloaking Technology, revolutionising defence with enhanced stealth and radar invisibility.

The IIT Kanpur team has recently released the Analakshya Metamaterial Surface Cloaking System (MCS), an innovative defense technology. This textile-based broadband metamaterial microwave absorber delivers near-perfect absorption in a wide frequency range, further boosting stealth capability and addressing the threat posed by these SAR systems.

Key Features and Advancements

The greatest advancement in the modern defence system is that Analakshya could turn surfaces and objects invisible to radar systems. Thus, making objects invisible from SAR imaging offers exceptional safeguard for military equipment, minimizing the visible area. The system also added radar guidance for missile protection, making it more important in the defense of the nation.

Making It A Collaborative Effort and Expertise

Respected professors of IIT Kanpur jointly addressed this Analakshya MSCS development: Prof. Anantha Ramakrishna (Physics), Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava (Electrical Engineering), and Prof. J. Ramkumar (Mechanical Engineering).

Their passionate team of researchers and PhD scholars, including Mr Gagandeep Singh, Dr Kajal Chowdhary, and Dr Abhinav Bhardwaj, designed this new-generation technology.

CHRONOLOGY OF THE EVENT AND GUEST SPEAKERS

The first event was the live website launch, which was presided over by the chief guest, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command, Indian Air Force, and other dignitaries, including Lt. Gen.

Cherish Mathson and Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar. IIT Kanpur’s Director, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, and other stakeholders were also present, providing the event with a new upward step in India’s defence technology.

Conclusion

Analakshya has significantly improved India's intelligence and surveillance capabilities. Regarding action, technology is expected to alter the contemporary theatre of warfare. It also helps put India’s defense forces in a vantage position of deft defendant security.
