NEET Re-Exam 2024: Do You Need to Retake the Exam?

The NEET Re-exam 2024 is scheduled for June 23 from 2 pm to 5:20 pm for the 1,563 students who were given grace marks. Candidates who need to take this exam will receive their hall tickets soon. After the NEET results were released on June 4, reports of discrepancies surfaced, leading aspirants and parents to demand a NEET re-test. The question "Do I need to retake the NEET Re-exam 2024?" has been trending. On June 13, the Union Government informed the Supreme Court that it would cancel the scorecards of these 1,563 students and conduct a re-exam. The results of the NEET Re-exam 2024 are expected to be announced on June 30. The NEET UG 2024 controversy is under review by the Supreme Court, with the first hearing held on June 11, 2024.

In response to concerns about the NEET UG 2024 results, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the NTA, demanding a justification for their actions. The court is examining petitions challenging the grace marking scheme and alleged paper leaks. Justices Vikram Nath and Ahasanuddin Amanullah are leading the case to ensure fairness for over 25 lakh aspirants who took the exam on May 5, 2024.

Should You Prepare for the NEET Re-Exam 2024?

Initially, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar assured aspirants that no NEET Re-Exam 2024 was planned. However, the Union Government's recent decision changed this, with the re-exam scheduled for June 23 from 2 pm to 5:20 pm. Only the 1,563 candidates who received grace marks for unattempted questions due to "loss of time" are eligible for this test.

The NEET Re-Exam 2024 results will be announced on June 30, with counselling for MBBS, BDS, and related courses starting on July 6, according to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who dismissed all allegations of NEET 2024 paper leaks. Candidates among the 1,563 who choose not to appear for the re-exam will have their original scores (excluding grace marks) considered for results. These candidates will be informed of their actual scores via their registered email IDs.
