PM Modi Celebrates a Decade of Educational Advancements as Indian Universities Ascend QS Rankings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently celebrated significant progress in India’s education sector, as reflected in the QS World University Rankings. Modi emphasized the transformative changes in education over the past decade in his tweet, commending institutions, teachers, and students for their dedication. This recognition followed a post from Nunzio Quacquarelli, CEO of QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd, highlighting a remarkable 318% increase in the rankings of Indian universities among the world's best, rising from 11 in 2015 to 46 currently—the highest growth among G20 nations.

Modi's post on "X" (formerly Twitter) stated, "Over the last decade, we have focused on qualitative changes in the education sector. This progress is evident in the QS World University Rankings. Kudos to the students, faculty, and institutions for their dedication and hard work. In this term, we aim to further enhance research and innovation."

The rise in rankings indicates a significant shift in the quality of higher education in India. It underscores the government's commitment to implementing educational reforms and initiatives that promote excellence and global competitiveness. The Prime Minister's vision for the future includes enhancing these efforts, particularly in innovation and research, to ensure India continues to improve in global educational standards.

"Under Narendra Modi’s leadership, the last 10 years have seen continued improvement in the performance of Indian universities in QS World University Rankings," noted Nunzio Quacquarelli in his post on "X".

According to the QS World University Rankings 2025, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi have achieved impressive rankings. IIT Bombay advanced to the 118th rank from 149th last year, while IIT Delhi climbed 47 places to the 150th rank.
