The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the
revised dates for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test
(UGC-NET) 2024 June session exam. Originally scheduled for June 18 in two
shifts, the exam was cancelled on June 19. The new exam dates are set between
August 21 and September 4, and the test will now be conducted online as a
computer-based test.
In addition to the updated UGC NET June 2024 exam
schedule, the NTA has also released dates for the Joint CSIR UGC NET and NCET
exams. The Joint CSIR UGC NET will be held from July 25 to 27, and the NCET
2024 exam is scheduled for July 10. The All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance
Test (AIAPGET) 2024 is scheduled to take place on July 6 as planned.
The UGC NET June 2024 exam, conducted on June 18 in
two shifts across 317 cities, saw participation from over 9 lakh candidates.
However, the Ministry of Education cancelled the exam the following day due to
potential integrity issues after receiving reports of an alleged leak from the
Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
addressed the issue, stating, "Once it was clear that the UGC-NET question
paper on the darknet matched the original question paper, we decided to cancel
the examination. We take responsibility and must rectify the system." A
CBI investigation revealed that the paper had been leaked on June 16 and sold
for over 5 lakh rupees via the dark web and other encrypted social media
platforms.
The cancellation also impacted the CSIR UGC NET
exam, originally scheduled from June 25 to 27, which was postponed by the
Education Ministry as a precautionary measure due to concerns of a similar
leak.
