Ahmedabad. ESTD 1961.

IIMA was set up as an institution that would be managed by a Society, the IIMA Society, created under the Societies Act in 1961 The Institute was to be run by a Board of Governors, constituted by the IIMA Society; the Board would have representation from all the relevant constituencies so as to reflect the multifarious needs of a developing nation.

IIM Ahmedabad was established on 11 December 1961 with the active support of the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, Harvard Business School, and prominent members of Indian industry. The physicist Vikram Sarabhai and businessman Kasturbhai Lalbhai, played pivotal roles in establishing the institute. The institute's Kasturbhai Lalbhai Management Development Centre and a Kasturbhai Lalbhai Chair in Entrepreneurship are named in his honor. The management educator Ravi J. Matthai and several other Ahmedabad-based businessmen also played a major role in its creation

In 2008, IIMA became the first management school in the country to be awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development).

The IIMA campus is situated across 102 acres in Vastrapur Ahmedbad.

The campus houses the academic blocks, faculty offices, student and faculty accommodation, the Vikram Sarabhai Library, the R.J. Matthai Auditorium, the Louis Kahn Plaza, the International Management Development Centre, the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Management Development Centre, the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, sport facilities, several food outlets and merchandise stores.

IIMA urges its student to take up Entrepreneurship as a profession. Conditions

The Master's degree or equivalent qualification/Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification should be:

 (a) From any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956.

(b) Recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India or (c) possesses an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

 

Candidates who are in the final year of their Master's/Bachelor's Programmes that would make them eligible, can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by May 31, 2021.

 

● Candidates applying to the Ph. D. Programme are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) or * a standard test in lieu of CAT.

● For NRIs and Foreign students this standard test is the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Two Year PGP Programme /Two Year PGP Programme- FABM

For Domestic Candidates

CAT Scores- Candidates need to qualify CAT 2020 Exam .IIM-A will release sectional cut off list and overall cut-off list for further admission process.

For Overseas Indian category - An overseas Indian category candidate who applies with a valid GMAT score* instead of a CAT score should have a total scaled score of at least 720. Indians resident outside India fall under the "Overseas Indian candidates" category.

Qualifying Exam - Candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Minimum Percentage of Marks – 50% marks for General Candidates and 45% marks in case of SC/ST/Person with Disability Category.

Final Year Student - A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

 

Note- The deadline for submission of the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2021. Non-fulfilment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission. IIMA would not allow any candidate to join its PGP in case the candidate is unable to complete all the requirements for a bachelor's degree on or before June 30, 2021

 

Supernumerary Candidates

Exam and Minimum Percentage or Marks - The applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (at least a three year programme) with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA/Grades from a recognized university/institute after at least 12 years of school education

GMAT Scores -A valid GMAT Total score (GMAT taken before December 31, 2015 is not valid) of 700 at the least and should also have the Integrated Reasoning (IR) score greater than or equal to 5 (five).

 

Important Note: Foreign nationals (foreign passport holders) staying in India must take GMAT and apply through this category only.

Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (MBA-PGPX) (One Year Full Time )

  • Qualifying Exam - Bachelor Degree or equivalent
  • Entrance Exams - A valid GMAT/GRE score (GMAT/GRE scores are valid for five years from the date to the application deadline date of the round in which candidate is applying. The earliest acceptable GMAT/GRE test date for the three rounds are - Round 1: September 1, 2015 Round 2: October 20, 2015 Round 3: January 5, 2016.
  • Age - Age of 25 years as on March 31, 2021
  • Work Experience - Minimum 4 years of full time work experience after completion of graduation as on March 31, 2021.

 

Faculty Development Programme

Work Experience - Participants should have post-graduate level teaching experience in management or research experience of at least two years.

Age - Preference will be given to participants less than 45 years of age.

Language - Participants are expected to be fluent in English.

e-Post Graduate Programme (e-PGP)(2 to 3 years)

Work Experience - Working Professionals and Entrepreneurs with a minimum of 3 years’ full-time work experience (After completion of graduation) as on March 31, 2020.

Age - Minimum Age 24 years and above as on March 31, 2020 (born on or before March 31, 1996).

Minimum Percentage of Marks - Holding at least a Bachelor’s Degree/CA/CS/ICWA, with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA, awarded by any of the recognized universities.

Work Experience - Minimum of 2 years’ work experience (preferably in the domain of business analytics); the experience criterion may be waived for candidates with exceptional academic qualifications.
