Ashoka University collaborates with ZEISS India to launch a state-of-the-art imaging facility to fuel new-generation bioscience and cross-disciplinary research.
Ashoka University, with an official launch of the Ashoka-ZEISS Core Imaging Facility, has furthered the cause of research and scientific innovation. The collaboration at the scientific level was sealed with an MOU that emphasizes the commitment of Ashoka and ZEISS as research companies in optical systems in optoelectronics.
Promoting Scholarship by Empowering Innovative Technologies
It houses state-of-the-art microscopes, such as high-resolution, super-resolution, and high-content microscopes, that will enhance structural biology, biophysics, cell biology, and soft condensed matter research.
The four highlighted ZEISS microscopes, namely Lattice Lightsheet 7, Elyra 7 LS (Lattice SIM2), LSM 980 NLO, and Cell Discoverer 7 with LSM 900 Airyscan, offer high potential to visualize biological processes at an unmatched level of detail.
Interaction for Innovative Processes
The esteemed Nobel Laureate, Dr. Jack Szostak, rightly pointed to the increased value of the facility by saying, ‘At its base, the ZEISS Imaging Facility is about teaming excellent talent in the realms of biology, physics, and engineering.’ The facility continues to work towards creating interdisciplinary bridges by utilizing the best of technology, underpinned by technical expertise.”
Ashok Trivedi, who founded the Trivedi School of Biosciences, underlined that the facility would be a “revolutionary addition as it opens doors to visualizing life at molecular levels and realizes what was previously considered unimaginable.”

It remains open for students and researchers for the next few years, free of charge, where they will gain practical experience in using state-of-the-art imaging equipment.
Furthermore, ZEISS Expert System Operators will be available to support the users to achieve the full potential of these advanced instruments.
