The Financial Times (FT) has published its 2024 rankings of the top 100 Global MBA programs, with The Wharton School claiming the top spot after being absent from last year's rankings. The following is a breakdown of the top 10 MBA programs according to FT's 2024 Global MBA rankings, with 2023 positions in parentheses:

1.    The Wharton School (na)

2.    INSEAD (2) 3 (tie). Columbia Business School (1) 3 (tie). SDA Bocconi (6)

3.    Iese Business School (3) 6 (tie). Northwestern University Kellogg (9) 6 (tie). MIT Sloan School of Management (11, tie)

4.    London Business School (16)

5.    Cornell University: Johnson (8)

6.    University of Chicago Booth (11, tie)

While The Wharton School made a notable comeback, Harvard Business School (HBS) and Stanford GSB did not make it to the top ten. HBS secured the 11th position, and Stanford GSB appeared at #23. Notable improvements were observed for SDA Bocconi, LBS, Northwestern Kellogg, and Chicago Booth. LBS climbed eight spots to eighth place, while SDA Bocconi shared the third spot with last year's #1, CBS. Chicago Booth and MIT Sloan entered the top ten, and Cornell Johnson maintained its top-ten standing.

Eliot Ingram, co-founder of Clear Admit, commented on the FT rankings, noting that the top 10 represent highly regarded U.S. and European business schools, with five out of six U.S. programs being M7 schools. However, he found it perplexing that Stanford was ranked lowest among the M7 schools, especially considering its 19-spot decline from the 2023 rankings. Ingram attributed Stanford's lower ranking to penalties in international and ESG metrics, as well as fewer graduates accepting typical post-MBA jobs.

In a separate section, the Indian School of Business (ISB) emerged as the top MBA college in India and secured the 31st position globally in the 2024 rankings. Six Indian B-schools were featured, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and XLRI.

The FT Global MBA Ranking 2024 also provided insights into the top U.S., European, and Asian MBA programs. Additionally, the methodology, based on 21 criteria, highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on response rates and alumni-based metrics, raising questions about the ranking's applicability in assessing business schools in 2024.
