The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 registration process will commence on August 28, 2025. Candidates aspiring for postgraduate programs (M.Tech/M.E.), direct Ph.D. admissions, recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), or international university applications can register at the official website: gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

What’s New in GATE 2026?

·         Revised two-paper combinations for candidates opting for dual subjects.

·         Eligibility clarifications for students from international universities.

·         Minor updates in application requirements for PwD and dyslexic candidates.

 

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2026

General Eligibility:

·         Candidates in 3rd year or above of any undergraduate degree program.

·         Candidates with a completed degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities.

Professional Society Exams:

·         Certifications recognized by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to undergraduate programs.

International Students:

·         Must have a Bachelor’s degree (minimum three years) in relevant fields.

Documents Required for Registration

·         Recent passport-size photograph (as per specifications)

·         Signature scan

·         Valid Photo ID (must match ID presented at exam center)

·         Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable

·         PwD/UDID certificate, if applicable

·         Dyslexia certificate, if applicable

·         Additional Annexures, if required

 

Exam Cities & Zones

GATE 2026 will be held across 8 zones:

·         IISc Bengaluru Zone

·         IIT Bombay Zone

·         IIT Delhi Zone

·         IIT Guwahati Zone

·         IIT Kanpur Zone

·         IIT Kharagpur Zone

·         IIT Madras Zone

·         IIT Roorkee Zone

Candidates must choose three cities within the same zone. Allotment may vary based on availability.

GATE 2026 allows candidates to opt for one or two papers. Some combinations include:
