1. Eligibility

A. Educational Qualifications

To be eligible to take admission into any MBA course in India, a candidate would typically need:

Bachelors: Any recognized undergraduate degree in any stream, with a minimum aggregate score. Most institutes generally require a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories such as SC/ST/PwD).

The application is also open to students in their final year of pursuing their bachelors. They, however, will be considered eligible only if, and only when, they turn in their scorecards with the minimum percentage before the beginning of the program.

 

B. Admission Tests

Another key prerequisite that falls under the make-or-break process is clearing the entrance exams, considered as the major ones. Examinations /score accepted are as follows:

-CAT: This is mostly conducted by IIMs and is accepted by more than 95% of the top B-schools.

- XAT: XAT is conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, many premier institutions accept this exam too.

- MAT: MAT is accepeted by many B schools and is conducted by All India Management Association. .

-CMAT: Common Management Admission Test; it is accepted widely and conducted by the National Testing Agency.

- NMIMS Management Aptitude Test: Accepted by many institutions. Conducted by NMIMS.

-Symbiosis National Aptitude Test: This is conducted by the Symbiosis International University.

-Graduate Management Admission Test: it is becoming an increasingly popular mode of assessment among the Indian b-schools, particularly for executive MBA programs; well-known for international programs.

Work experience is definitely a bonus to most of the regular MBA programs, but it is a must for an executive MBA or other courses. Institutes like the Indian School of Business and some IIMs look for students with 2-5 years of work experience..

 

2. Fees Structure

Tier 1 B-schools—IIM, XLRI, ISB, etc.—come at an overall cost of about INR 15-25 lakhs.

- Tier 2 B-Schools (SPJIMR, MDI, IMT, etc.): The fee is around INR 10-15 lakhs.

- Tier 3 Institutions (Regional B-schools and private universities): The fee is usually INR 5-10 lakhs.

Apart from the college fees, students need 1-3LPA for personal expenses such as books, travel fare, living expenses etc.

 

3. Important Dates for MBA Admission 2024

 

A. Registration and Exam dates

 

- CAT 2024: Registration starts - September 13, 2024, Exam - November 24, 2024.

- XAT 2024: Registration starts - 15th July 2024, Exam - January 2025.

MAT (Multiple Sessions): The last date of registration is 9th August 2024 for phase 1 and 11th August 2024 for CBT

CMAT 2024: CMAT result declared on 6th June 2024

NMAT 2024: Registrations - August 2024.

SNAP 2024: Registrations - August 2024.

 

 B. Statement of Results and Last Date of Applications

- Results of CAT, XAT, etc.: It would be declared within a month when the examination is held.

- Last date to Apply in Colleges: January-March 2025 will be the probable deadline for applications

 

C. Selection Process Time-Frame

GD/PI/WAT Rounds: It would happen in February-April 2025.

Final Admissions: During April-June 2025.

Start of Academic Sessions: During July-August 2025.

5. NMAT: NMIMS-Mumbai, ISB-Hyderabad, SPJIMR-Mumbai, XIMB-Bhubaneshwar, VIT Vellore- Vellore etc.

6. SNAP: SIBM-Pune, SCMHRD-Pune, SIBM-Bangalore, SIMS-Pune, SICSR-Pune, SIOM-Nasik, SIBM-Nagpur etc.

 

4. Application Process

The process of applying for MBA is primarily multistage:

 

A. Entrance Exam Applications

The applicant has to apply first for the relevant entrance examinations. This normally consists of the following steps:
